Introducing Spartanburg Chiropractor Dr. Nick Wise

Spartanburg Chiropractor, Dr. Nick WiseEven though I grew up in a chiropractic family, I didn't always know I would become a chiropractor myself.

After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Philosophy in 1994, I tried on lots of different hats: English teacher in Eastern Europe, Internet travel writer, rock and roller, improv comedian, DSS office drone, bartender, door to door salesman. I even tried being a private investigator for two weeks!

I was looking for something meaningful to do with my life, but it wasn't until my father casually mentioned something at dinner one night that the lightbulbs went off in my head: I would be a chiropractor! It all made sense! I could make a good living and support my family, but more importantly, I would be helping people every day live a better life! So we packed up in a flash and moved back to Spartanburg, and from that moment on, I never looked back.

So after going back to school and completing all the basic science prerequisites, I entered Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in 1996. During my four years at Sherman, my studies included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Sherman College Health Clinic. After graduating in 2000, I was fortunate enough to be able to go into practice and continue learning with the best teacher and most respected chiropractor around, my dad. Dr. Les retired from practice in 2007, but still remains active as a professor at Sherman College.

Our philosophy at our Spartanburg chiropractic practice has always been quite simple: listen well, treat people with respect and provide great chiropractic care. As Wise chiropractors, we specialize in finding the solutions to your health problems, and tweaking the little things that will make a huge difference. We enjoy helping people of all different types live a better life, from infants to seniors and everyone in between.

In all my "spare" time, I enjoy hanging out with my wife, Carrie, and our three awesome kids, Sophie, Ollo, and Alex. I am still an avid musician, and I love going to concerts and playing drums and guitar. I enjoy teaching technique seminars to doctors around the world and am also involved in a project that is bringing chiropractic to India.

Dr. Nick Asks some important questions of interest to Spartanburg residents - Chiropractor Spartanburg Dr. Nick Asks...

Where do most Spartanburg residents get their first subluxation?
Being born in a hospital is a common source of subluxation. Trauma from forceps delivery has been replaced with drugs, vacuum extraction, Cesarean section and births that are "scheduled" to fit the workweek routines of Ob-Gyns. That's why we recommend a chiropractic checkup for every Spartanburg newborn.
Which organs are extra?
You don't have any spare parts. Sure, we can survive without our tonsils, appendix, gall bladder and several other tissues, but each serves a purpose. We chiropractors recognize this. So the chiropractic approach I use in Spartanburg is to reduce nerve interferences to the control and regulation of every tissue, organ and system of your body.
